More Effective for Sciatica Than Surgery Chiropractic

Image
Chiropractic More Effective for Sciatica Than Surgery Dr. Ramsey works with countless sciatica patients here in our  Gresham office , and many of these patients were nervous that they might need surgery to treat their pain. The most recent research indicates that a large number of people don’t need surgery for this widespread issue, and that chiropractic is more successful at clearing up sciatic nerve pain. A popular surgery for sciatica is microdiscectomy, and in a 2010 study, specialists looked at 80 individuals with sciatica who were referred for this operation. Forty patients were then randomly sorted into one of two groups. The first group received surgical microdiscectomy and the second group received chiropractic care. Both groups improved; however, no noticeable difference in outcome was recorded one year post-treatment between either group. In addition, roughly 60 percent of the participating subjects who could not find relief from any other treatment approach “bene...

Chiropractic Care Disc Problems Effective for Herniated

Image
Chiropractic Care Effective for Herniated Disc Problems Regrettably, many of our Gresham patients know the pain caused by a herniated disc all too well. On a positive note, Dr. Ramsey has helped many people with  disc pain , and a number of research studies have verified that chiropractic can help people recover from this kind of problem. Research on Herniated Discs and Chiropractic In one report, a group of doctors from Switzerland recruited 148 patients who were suffering with pain in their lower back and legs due to a disc herniation (which was confirmed through magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI). Each individual then received chiropractic adjustments that focused on the area of his or her disc herniation. Results were gathered after the initial treatment session at set intervals–namely, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 12 weeks, 6 months, and 1 year–to ascertain what type of short-term and long-term effects, if any, chiropractic offers when it comes to treating this particular problem...

Pain Shoulder and Car Accidents Gresham

Shoulder Pain   is a common problem after an auto injury, and it’s something that Dr. Robert Ramsey sees often in our Gresham, OR office. The key to recovering from shoulder pain caused by a crash is to understand the root cause of the problem and how chiropractic care can help. There are at least two ways that you can develop shoulder pain after an accident: by direct injury to the shoulder or by referred pain from the neck. Direct trauma can be caused by striking your shoulder on a hard surface in the car during the impact, or can occur if you have a tight grip on the steering wheel during a rear end collision. With this type of injury, you’ll often be aware of the pain shortly after the crash. More frequently, Dr. Robert Ramsey finds that shoulder or arm pain does not immediately appear after a collision, but starts a few days or weeks after the injury. This type of shoulder discomfort actually starts in the cervical spine. Injured soft tissue in your spine can tweak nerv...

Migraine Headache of Chiropractic Treatment

Image
Chiropractic Treatment of Migraine Headache With the Migraine Research Foundation reporting that migraine headaches affect 38 million adults and children in the United States (more than diabetes and asthma put together), it’s no surprise that Dr. Ramsey treats a lot of migraine sufferers in our Gresham office. While some patients try to relieve migraine pain with drugs, chiropractic care is a fantastic, all-natural approach that often produces positive results. Research Proves Chiropractic Care Helps With Migraines For example, one report published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics involved 127 patients ranging in age from 10 to 70-years-old who suffered with regular (at least monthly) migraines. Each subject engaged in up to 16 chiropractic sessions. The subjects noted that their  headache  frequency, duration, and disability two months before the study began, during the duration of the sessions (which was two months), and two months post-tr...
