Back Pain and the SI Joint

Image
Ramsey has noticed that many cases of back pain originate in the sacroiliac (SI) joint. Investigation shows that about one quarter of all back pain begins in the SI joint, and now new research corroborates what we have observed in our clinic: chiropractic is an effective method for treating this pain. Research Proves Chiropractic Treatment Helps Increase Movement in the SI Joint In the study published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies, 32 women who suffered from sacroiliac joint dysfunction were split into two groups and asked to take part in one of two treatment methods. The first group received a chiropractic adjustment isolated to the sacroiliac joint, and the second group got an adjustment to the sacroiliac joint as well as the lumbar spine. Researchers observed greater improvements in both pain and movement immediately following treatment, two days later, and 30 days after for the group who had been given high-velocity low-amplitude manipulation to both the sa...

Natural Carpal Tunnel Treatment with Chiropractic

Image
Dr. Ramsey sees a lot of patients struggling with  carpal tunnel syndrome  in our busy Gresham, OR chiropractic practice. While some people think that the source of this wrist-related pain is muscular, it’s actually a condition that arises from the nerves–and not just the nerves in your hands. Research Supports Chiropractic Helps With Carpal Tunnel Syndrome A recent study published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy evaluated 71 women between the ages of 35 and 59 who were diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. Upon investigating the subjects’ neck range of motion, the researchers discovered that the patients had reduced cervical mobility when compared to a healthy control group. Furthermore, they also discovered that the degree of the women’s reported carpal tunnel pain was connected to the lateral flexion of the cervical spine. In short, the less flexibility in the neck area, the greater the level of pain. This research is extremely important, as you...

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and Car Accidents Gresham, OR

Image
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is a common symptom after an auto injury, and it’s something that Dr. Robert Ramsey sees often in our Gresham, OR office. Chiropractic can be very helpful for thoracic outlet syndrome symptoms after a crash. Let’s see what causes thoracic outlet syndrome and why chiropractic works. The thoracic outlet is a bundle of blood vessels and nerves that pass through your neck and shoulder to your arm. These nerves and blood vessels don’t have a lot of space, so they travel underneath and between the strong bands of muscles that support your head. In a crash, these muscle groups can be stretched and strained. If injured, the muscles become inflamed and tender, and they can develop scar tissue which restricts movement and puts pressure on the tissues of the thoracic outlet. Pressure on the nerves can cause tingling or numbness in the shoulder, elbow and even the wrist. Pressure on the blood vessels can also cause problems in the arm. Gresham, OR Thoracic Outlet Tre...

Image
When you’re trying to sustain your family, take care of your home, and pay all of your bills on time, every day at work counts.  Work injuries  can be a serious problem for many people, and we see many of these types of injuries in our Gresham office. Dr. Ramsey appreciates your situation and is here to help. The advantages of chiropractic care for work injuries are well-documented. A 2013 survey involving 651 adults who were suffering with either back or  neck pain  found that the people who didn’t see a chiropractor missed work at twice the rate of those who were seeing a chiropractor. So, why don’t more people use Chiropractic Care? According to the respondents in this report, two of the major reasons were that they thought they needed a referral for  chiropractic care  (which is typically no longer true) and they overestimated the costs associated with chiropractic treatment sessions by almost 70 percent. The reality is, chiropractic patients act...
